Holt is in her final year of study at the University of Glasgow, putting her in the perfect position to carry out tasks on behalf of the organisation that cannot be done by phone, email or post.

She will be responsible for providing a link between the local organising committee and the Isle of Man squad, collecting accreditation for all members of the team and staff, and sharing her knowledge of the city with the nation's delegation throughout the duration of the Games.

"There's already a buzz of anticipation around the city about the Games," she said.

"Everyone is very enthusiastic about it and I'm looking forward to playing a part in helping Team Isle of Man over the next few months.

"Before I was asked to become the team attaché I applied to be a Glasgow 2014 volunteer and it was astounding to see the number of people who applied to help at the Games."

Holt has decided not to pursue her application to become a volunteer in order to concentrate on her role with Team Isle of Man and will now spend time visiting Glasgow 2014 venues to familiarise herself with the locations for the sports.

The Isle of Man will be one of 71 nations competing in Glasgow between July 23 and August 3, 2014, and athletes with potential - who have achieved consideration standards - will be able to apply for selection in April next year.

The country's team will be announced on May 8, but it is likely to be represented in nine of the 17 sports at the Games, namely athletics, badminton, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, lawn bowls, shooting, swimming and triathlon.
