Moran and Bewleys first announced their original involvement in 2011 and played a "key role" for the Irish team in the buildup to London 2012, where they delivered an impressive haul of 16 medals.

The latest partnership, unveiled in Cork, is effectively a renewal of this support and will consist of the "extensive provision" of accommodation, meeting and event facilities.

Discus thrower Orla Barry, who has won medals at both London 2012 and the 2013 World Championships in Lyon, was present at the unveiling and will be a brand ambassador for the partnership.

After winning her London 2012 bronze medal, Barry enjoyed a superb 2013 campaign in which she broke the F57 world record on way to a silver medal in Lyon - where only Algeria's F58 thrower Nassima Saifi was able to get the better of the 22-year-old.

"I'm honoured to become an ambassador for Moran and Bewleys Hotels' involvement with Irish Paralympic sport, Barry said, before adding that because she is a Cork-based athlete, "it's especially fitting to kick off the partnership again here in the Silver Springs [Hotel]."

Both parties involved also expressed their delight at the announcement.

"We were thrilled to be involved with the incredible Irish Paralympic success at London 2012 and are delighted to help Paralympics Ireland prepare for the challenge of Rio 2016," said Adrian Sherry, group marketing manager for Moran and Bewley's Hotels.

"The performances of Irish Paralympic athletes like Orla Barry are hugely inspiring and we will be supporting them every step of the way,"  she added.

Similar sentiments were expressed by the commercial director for Paralympics Ireland Patrick Haslett when he described how his organisation were "very grateful for the invaluable support of Moran and Bewleys Hotels and their staff in the lead up to London 2012."

"As Irish Paralympic athletes target the podium at Rio 2016, we look forward to another exciting partnership."
