"I want to thank everyone who has been involved in the Compliance Committee for their tremendous work over the past four months.

"AIBA is convinced that England now has a bright boxing future ahead of it and we are very much looking forward to working with the new ABAE Board of Directors."

The vote, held yesterday, ended a long and heated debate over the composition of the new Board, after some ABAE members believed the new "skills-based recruitment process" to be unfair.

The decisions also remove the threat of further sanctions being brought against the ABAE by boxing's world governing body, who had previously suspended the ABAE following what it called "serious breaches" of its regulations regarding the involvement of Sport England in helping to draw up a new constitution and it's blocking of World Series of Boxing (WSB) fighters from competing at national events.

The AIBA had threatened to take further action against the ABAE should they have voted against the two proposals at Sunday's vote, possibly excluding English boxers from all international competitions, including next year's Commonwealth Games. 

Sport England had also confirmed that it would cease its £5 million ($8 million/€6 million) funding for the ABAE, "with immediate effect", if the new articles and Board did not go ahead.
