New events will be held in Latvia, Ukraine and Romania for the first time, whilst old favourites such as Brno, Tiszaujvaros and Antalya will remain.

Despite a bid from the British Triathlon Federation to host a junior European Cup, there has been no announcement of any events taking place in Britain in the 2014 season.

A spokesperson at the ETU told insidethegames that a bid had been made by the British Triathlon Federation but was ultimately unsuccessful.

"To explain a bit about the procedure with European Cups/Junior Cups - all National Federations must bid to host a Cup race/event," they said.

"The British Federation did submit a bid to host a Junior European Cup in 2014 but it was a month after the deadline and as the ETU had filled their quota of [eight] Junior European Cups, the bid was ultimately unsuccessful."

In terms of senior European Cups, no bid has been made by the British Federation as of yet, however, the quota for events has yet to be filled by the ETU giving Britain, and many other national federations the opportunity to submit their bids to host an event for the 2014 calendar.

"The deadline has passed but we did not fill up our quota of European Cups so all National Federations have been encouraged to submit a bid to see if we can host one or two more events next year," added the spokesperson.
