Pourmirzaei dominated and his lift of 276kg shattered the previous world record of 240kg set by Iraq's Faris Al-Ajeeli.

The 33-year-old took the Asian title on this final day of competition well ahead of South Korea's London 2012 bronze medallist Keun Bae Chun of South Korea and third placed man Walid Raeilboon of the United Arab Emirates.

In the men's under 107kg class, there was a one-two finish for Egypt as Mohamed Abdel Hakam Hammam finished just 1kg clear of compatriot Mohamed Elsayed with a lift of 222kg while China's Pingguang Tian took the bronze.

There was better news for China in the women's under 86kg category as 31-year-old Xuemei Deng's effort of 111kg was enough to see her crowned Asian champion, well ahead of Malaysia's Norfariza Mortada who took silver with 70kg while the bronze medal lay unclaimed as Catalina Diaz Vilchis of Mexico failed to clear the bar with any of her attempts.

Paralympic champion Grace Anozie ensured Nigeria finished the Championships at the Titiwangsa Stadium on top of the overall medal table as she claimed a fifth gold for her country with victory in the women's over 86kg event.
