Former Commonwealth Games weightlifter and European Championship silver medallist Maggie Lynes has been appointed as the overall England team manager, a role she had filled at Delhi 2010.

"It is a privilege to be involved with the Commonwealth Games team," said Lynes, who is also a former international shot putter.

"There's something about the Commonwealth Games, I just can't stay away.

"I've had some of the best experiences ever as an athlete, coach and now manager.

"I'm excited to be working with the talented athletes we have in the squad, which is a really good mix of experience and youth which shows such a lot of potential."

The experienced Mike Pearman will be the head and will be assisted by Keith Morgan, Andrew Callard and Eddie Halstead, as the England team will look to improve on a disappointing performance in Delhi which saw the team pick up just a single bronze medal in the form of Zoe Smith.

Smith is currently out injured with a back problem and is set to miss the upcoming Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Penang, Malaysia, due to run from November 24 to 30.

The 11 athletes heading to Malaysia will be hoping to impress and seal a place in the potentially 15-strong squad - eight male and seven female - for Glasgow 2014.

Those competing in Penang are Jack Oliver, Sonny Webster, Shaun Clegg, Ben Watson, Brad Burrows, Chris Freebury, Christos Michaelas, Halil Zorba, Rebekah Tiler, Hannah Powell and Jo Calvino.
