This will ensure the presence of some of the world's best art in addition to the world's best skiers at the event.

In addition to creating the artwork for the official World Championships poster, Fell will also be working with local children to create a special art piece, while also embarking on other merchandising, marketing and design concepts throughout the event.

"When the Organising Committee asked me to represent the 2015 World Championships, I began the invigorating prospect of painting America proud," Fell said.

"As an artist, I go to work with a vision to capture the colourful outlook by way of anticipation of the soul of this historic event.

"This will enable a visualisation into the hearts of the American athletes and to the many athletes that will come here in the colours of the globe."

Carrie Fell has formed a partnership to be involved in the 2015 World Alpine Skiing Championships



Fell's art depicts the traditional icons of the Old West with a thoroughly modern twist, using vibrant colours and fluid forms. 

She has painting professionally since 1988 and is only one of only two contemporary-style Western artists whose work was chosen for the prestigious 2003 "Legends of the West" exhibit in Texas.

As well as work featuring in galleries in Georgia and Arizona she opened her Vail gallery in the area in December 2011.

Fell claimed, that because she grew up skiing in the Vail area, she has a particular affinity for the region which added to her desire to be involved.

"I have always been called to this area," Fell said.

"My parents loved to ski here and it's where my siblings and I learned to ski.

"Each weekend, crammed in the back of our groovy customised black pin-striped Chevy van, my family made the long trek from Denver through the congested two-lane Eisenhower Tunnel, barely containing ourselves until we reached the base of the gondola."

The likes of Ted Ligety who won three gold medals at the 2013 World Championships could be leading the home charge in 2015



The excitement for her involvement was reinforced by Ceil Folz, President of the Vail Valley Foundation and head of the 2015 World Championships Organising Committee.

"We are honored and excited that Carrie has agreed to be our Official Artist," said Folz.

"Her willingness to immerse herself and her fantastic talents throughout the Championships shows her tremendous commitment to the Vail Valley and giving back to our community."

The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships is expected consist of more than 70 nations, with an estimated 750 million worldwide television viewers and an onsite media and broadcast entourage of approximately 1,500 members.

The two week event is scheduled to begin on February 2 in 2015.
