September 27 - Go Swim Month 2013 starts on October 1The second annual GO Swim Month run by Swimming Australia is set to get underway next Tuesday (October 1) as the governing body launches its national campaign to get more youngsters into the pool.

GO Swim Month encourages children to get involved in swimming by promoting the skills they will learn, and fun that they will have as part of a swim club, and last year saw almost 100 swimming centres across the country take part in the campaign.

This year's programme hopes to see even more widespread involvement and is being backed by three Team Australia stars in the form of Olympic and world championship silver medallist Emily Seebohm, World Championship relay silver medal winner Cameron McEvoy and London 2012 Olympic relay gold medal winner Brittany Elmslie, who will be visiting swimming centres across Australia during the month of October.

As well as getting to meet some of Australia's top swimming stars, children will get to participate in a range of activities on the day including novelty races, skill sessions, BBQs, games and there will also be information sessions for parents.

"Some of my fondest memories in swimming are of club nights and intra club racing, and GO Swim Days are a great way to celebrate the sport of swimming," said 21-year-old Seebohm, a silver medallist in the 100 metre backstroke at the this year's World Championships in Barcelona, finishing behind American Missy Franklin just as she did at London 2012.

"I can't wait to be part of it again this year.

"I will be heading out to Redlands Swimming Club on Saturday October 5 and I know that many of the team from this year's World Championships in Barcelona are looking forward to getting back to some of the local and regional clubs and meeting all the kids."
