September 11 - Jan Paterson has been named as Team England Chef de Mission for Glasgow 2014Commonwealth Games England (CGE) has today named Jan Paterson as Team England's Chef de Mission for Glasgow 2014, completing the senior leadership team for the event, which runs from July 23 to August 3 next year.

Paterson, who is currently director of Olympic relations at the British Olympic Association (BOA) and chief executive of the British Olympic Foundation (BOF), brings a wealth of experience to the role having been Team GB's deputy Chef de Mission at the London 2012 Olympics.

"I am honoured to have been given the privilege to be Chef de Mission for Team England at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games," said Paterson, who became Britain's first female Chef de Mission at the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympics.

"I am looking forward to working with a highly experienced and respected leadership team to deliver the best support to Team England's athletes and officials in their quest for personal best."

Paterson has worked with Team England at previous Commonwealth Games when she was press officer at Manchester 2002 and HQ manager at Melbourne 2006.

She has also worked as part of the British team at five Universiades.

In Glasgow next year, Paterson will be supported by Don Parker, Graeme Dell and Hilda Gibson, as deputy Chefs de Mission, while Claire Furlong will act as head of media and Mo Diprose will be head of commercial operations.

"I'm delighted to welcome this strong leadership group to make this the best prepared England team ever," said CGE board chairman Sir Andrew Foster.

"We have set out our strategy to improve our performance in all areas."

Former England international table tennis player and national coach Parker, who was deputy technical director at the BOA for three years, will be deputy Chef de Mission for sport, while FIFA elite coaching instructor Dell will bring his experience of working at five Commonwealth Games to the role of deputy Chef de Mission for operations.

Deputy Chef de Mission for Planning, Gibson, was England's archery team leader at Delhi 2010 and at Beijing 2008, and was also London 2012's archery services manager. 

Furlong runs her own sports communications agency and this will be her third time working with Team England at a Commonwealth Games, having previously occupied the role of head of marketing and communications at UK Athletics, and head of communications at Vero and the English Institute of Sport.

Diprose will be responsible for managing the CGE commercial and stakeholder programme in Glasgow, along with developing fresh brand initiatives, and engaging supporters and businesses in the corporate family.

She has also previously worked for the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and spent six years working with London 2012.
