London 2012 gold medallist Aled Davies is among the stars due to attend National Paralympic Day on September 7August 19 - Excitement is building as a host of London 2012 athletes have confirmed their attendance at the National Paralympic Day celebrations on September 7, including medallists Aled Davies, Will Bayley and David Smith.

Davies, who won F42/44 discus gold at London 2012, is looking forward to getting back to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and being part of the free event marking the one year anniversary of the London 2012 Paralympic Games, and which also includes the Mayor of London's Liberty Festival; an annual showcase of deaf and disabled artists.

"London 2012 was the most incredible Paralympic Games and I have such fantastic memories of the time that I spent at the Olympic Park, be it in the stadium, in the Village or spending time with the fans who had come to cheer on the ParalympicsGB team," said the 22-year-old who won discus and shot put gold at last month's International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics World Championships in Lyon.

"I cannot wait to come back to the Park on September 7 to re-live that amazing time in my life and to celebrate National Paralympic Day.

"National Paralympic Day is a great idea.

"It's important that, outside a Paralympic Games, there are opportunities to showcase disability sport and that we can build on this interest to encourage people to get involved, whether that be through sporting participation, coaching and volunteering or by showing your support as a fan."

Davies' teammate Bayley will be one of a number of athletes taking part in elite events at the Copper Box Arena in the Park, which include boccia, wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball.

Paralympic silver and bronze medallist Bayley will be competing in a table tennis between Britain and Brazil and is excited by the prospect of competing back at the Copper Box in front of a noisy home crowd.

"I can't wait to compete in the Copper Box on September 7," said the 25-year-old.

"I know that all of us have such special memories of London 2012, and National Paralympic Day promises to be a fantastic occasion for us to bring lots of sports together and celebrate all things Paralympic.

"As we continue our progress to Rio it's really exciting to have another opportunity to compete in front of a home crowd and I hope they're ready to show their support."
