Helena Lucas has been named as among the IPCs Ones to Watch at the 2013 Sailing World ChampionshipsAugust 20 - Paralympic champions Helena Lucas and Udo Hessels have been named among the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Ones to Watch at this week's 2013 International Association for Disabled Sailing (IFDS) World Championships.

Norwegian Aleksander Wang-Hansen and Germany's Heiko Kröger complete the line up alongside Briton Lucas and the Netherlands' Hessels for the event - the first major disabled sailing competition since London 2012, which is due to take place in County Cork between August 22 and 30.

After winning gold in the 2.4mR single-person keelboat at London 2012 - she was the only female athlete competing in her event - Lucas will be hoping for similar success at the World Championships.

Sydney 2000 champion Kröger, who also competes in the single-person keelboat and finished second to Lucas at the Paralympics, now has his sights set on topping the podium at Rio 2016.

Hessels won gold in the sonar three-person keelboat at last summer's Games with teammates Marcel van de Veen and Mischa Rossen, while competing in the same event Wang-Hansen finished with the bronze medal.

"These names are not necessarily the Ones to Watch athletes for Rio 2016, but are the ones to keep your eyes on throughout the upcoming major international regattas," read an IPC statement.

The IPC's Ones to Watch campaign was launched in the lead-up to London 2012 to raise the profiles of leading medal contenders in Paralympic sports.
