Kazan 2013 will welcome over 13,000 athletes from 135 nations in one of the world's largest multi-sporting events over the next two weeks, and Gwangju 2015 have had observers there since July 3, with 33 members from their Organising Committee and expert staff in total due to make their way to the Tatarstan capital as the Games progress.

The observer programme participants will observe 35 areas concerning the operation of Kazan 2013 and attend seminars to receive necessary information, as well as visiting the Main International Centre and 16 other venues to be given direction and insight from officials.

Gwangju 2015 have made their ambition to host the most successful Universiade in the history of the sport well known, and they believe that by taking into account the positive and negative aspects of Kazan 2013, they will be on the right path to do so.

Promotional activities are already well underway in Kazan for the next Summer Universiade, with Gwangju 2015 setting up booths at the Main International Center in the Universiade Village, conveying their vision and ambition.

Gwangju 2015 will also be hosting an official reception at the International University Sport Federation (FISU) headquarters for Kazan in the Korston Hotel, with 300 invitees meeting under the theme: "Invitation to the Light, Gwangju 2015".

The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin will hand over the FISU flag to its President Louis-Claude Gallien at the Closing Ceremony, who will then bestow the flag upon the Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, Kang Un-tae.

Following the flag hand-over ceremony, a series of cultural performances showing the vision of the Gwangju Universiade will commence, with the aim of portraying the spirit and culture of the city to the world.
