Olympic lightweight champion Taylor, who also picked up the boxer of the tournament award, defeated Estelle Mossely of France in the final of the 60 kilograms category by a unanimous points decision to claim her fifth successive European Union title.

"I'm delighted," said the 27-year-old Irish boxer, speaking after what was victory number 138 out of 144 career outings and her 54th successive championship win.

"It's been a tough week here but it's great to be back in a tournament for the first time since the Olympic Games."

Fellow Olympic gold medallist, Adams, won her second European Union title, to add to her success in Katowice in 2011, following a relatively comfortable victory over Stoyka Petrova from Bulgaria, who she also beat in the quarter-finals at London 2012, on her way to claiming the gold medal in the flyweight category.

"It's gone better than I could have imagined," said Adams.

"I came here wanting gold and I got what I wanted, my wish came true.

"Boxing is my passion, and that's what I am all about so it's nice to take home a gold medal."

Adam's teammates Lisa Whiteside and Savannah Marshall joined the 30-year-old from Leeds at the top of the podium, following victories in the 51kg and 75kg finals respectively.

Whiteside, 27, who could not compete at last year's Olympic Games because her weight class was not included in the women's programme, overcame Alice Sramkova from the Czech Republic, knocking her opponent down in the first round.


Marshall defeated the Netherland's Nouchka Mirielle Fountin in the middleweight final to add to her success at the 2012 International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) Women's World Boxing Championships in Qinhuangdo, China.
