The recipient of the scholarship will be given a full racing tuition course at Oakcliff Sailing in Oyster Bay, New York, providing elite training and a perfect platform for the winner to go on to achieve Olympic greatness.

A three-time Olympic sailor himself in the Finn class, Rogge is an honourary member of US Sailing, and was hailed for his influence on the Movement by US Olympic Sailing managing director Josh Adams.

"During Mr. Rogge's tenure at the International Olympic Committee, he has worked tirelessly for athletes and the ideals of fair sport around the world," said Adams.

"We are proud to support the USOC and pay tribute with this scholarship, which honours his accomplishments as a sailor and an Olympian, and inspire the next generation of sailors with a dream to one day stand on the podium and represent the USA."

The sailor will be selected by US Sailing's Olympic Sailing Committee at the 2013 U.S. Youth Sailing Championships in Corpus Christi this August.

The winner of the scholarship will be announced on September 1.
