Hamad Kalkaba Malboum 290513May 26 - Hamad Kalkaba Malboum has been re-elected unopposed as President of the Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSC) by its 82 voting members.

Malboum, a member of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) ruling Council since 2007 and President of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) since 2010, will now serve a further four years in the most powerful position in Cameroonian sport having held the post since 2001.

Cameroon sent 33 athletes to the London 2012 Olympics but went home without a medal for the first time since Atlanta 1996.

Following the disappointing performance last summer, seven of the nation's athletes defected, refusing to return home with their teams and instead looking to claim asylum in Britain.

Nevertheless, Malboum is now looking ahead to the next Olympics in Rio in 2016 and remains positive about the future of sport in Cameroon.

"There are great challenges awaiting us now," he told insidethegames after his election.

"But, I am strongly convinced that together, we can face them and by combining our efforts and know-how, we will reach our objectives."
