2013 Modern Pentathlon World Cup FinalMay 22 - The line-up has been unveiled the 2013 Modern Pentathlon World Cup Final in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia later this month in what will be the sport's biggest competition this year.

The three-day finale, which is due to take place from May 31 until June 2, comes after four World Cup events this year in Palm Springs, Rio de Janeiro, Chengdu and Budapest.

In the men's draw, the newly instated world number one Adam Marosi of Hungary will be favourite for the top prize after winning at World Cup #2 in Rio and securing two further second place finishes in the Series this year.

The 28-year-old London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist is widely considered one of the best all-rounders on the tour but will be weary of the threat posed by a strong field lining up behind him.

One of his main contenders is likely to be talented British youngster James Cooke, who underlined his talent by defeating Marosi at World Cup#4 Budapest to claim his first ever Series win.

Another to watch will be London 2012 Olympic champion David Svoboda of the Czech Republic, who despite being well off his best in the Series so far, has proved he is a man for the big occasion.

Jamie Cooke 2 Hungary's Adam Marosi (L), Britain’s Jamie Cooke (C) and France’s Jean Maxence Berrou (R) are all major contenders of the men’s title at the 2013 Modern Pentathlon World Cup Final

France's Valentin Prades is another strong contender having finished third in Rio and fourth in Budapest while Russia's Aleksander Lesun will be looking to make home advantage count after winning World Cup #1 in Palm Springs.

In the women's event, Ukrainian duo Ganna Buriak and Victoria Tereshuk appear the main contenders for the title having won three of the four World Cup events this year.

Buriak capped an incredible breakthrough year for herself by winning back-to-back titles in both Chengdu and Budapest whilst Tereshuk was victorious in Palm Springs.

America's Margaux Isaksen the only one to break the Ukrainian dominance this year as she claimed her maiden title on the senior tour in Rio and she is therefore considered the main contender to Buriak and Tereshuk in Nizhny Novgorod.

London 2012 Olympic champion and world number one Laura Asadauskaite of Lithuania is the reigning champion but has suffered a loss of form this Series and will need to reproduced her top for with her status as top dog now under severe threat.

Meanwhile Britain's Mhairi Spence will be another with high hopes of mounting a serious challenge after taking bronze in Budapest.

The Mixed Relay is wide open with several teams in with a big chance of winning but many predict the Hungarian duo of Marosi and Leila Gyenesei will add another title to the gold medals they claimed in both Palm Springs and Budapest..

The competition gets underway on May 31 with the women's individual final before the men compete on June 1 and the mixed relay brings the show to a close on June 2.
