The 21-year-old from Scotland, who is ranked sixth in the world, lost the opening set to his French rival but battled back superbly to take the next two sets and win his third tournament of the year.

The victory came after the British number one produced a stunning display in his semi-final match against Austria's Martin Legner, where he won 6-0, 6-1.

The win in the Italian capital gives Reid the perfect platform heading into the World Team Cup in Turkey, where he will spearhead the British team.

In Turkey, he will lead a British men's team that also includes Marc McCarroll and David Phillipson, with London 2012 Paralympic women's doubles bronze medallists Jordanne Whiley and Lucy Shuker making up the women's team with Louise Hunt.

The quad team is made up of Jamie Burdekin, Antony Cotterill and Adam Field, while world number one boys' player Alfie Hewett teams up with Lauren Jones and Luz Esperanza Merry in the junior event.
