gwangju2015langMay 15 - Gwangju 2015 have received vast positive feedback from the language courses they launched last March, giving citizens the chance to learn English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and French, they claim.

So far this year, around 600 people at 11 institutes have already taken up the classes, with nine universities hosting English language courses, three Chinese language courses and Spanish, French, and Japanese courses held at Chosun University twice a week for two hour periods.

"We are so thankful for the enthusiasm which the native-speaking instructors manifest," said a course attendee.

"Each class is interesting and exciting to attend."

In a satisfaction survey conducted last year, Gwangju 2015 claim that 95 per cent of students said they were satisfied with the curriculum of their course and many expressed their anticipation to enhance their language skills and interact with people from all over the world.

Gwangju 2015 has been operating language schools at the language centres of regional universities since 2010 for four years in order to enhance the foreign language skills of volunteers, and have seen around 3,300 students and local citizens complete the language education programmes.

Beginning this year, past graduates and newcomers to the education programme will also take part in volunteer education programmes to ensure that they fully understand their roles and responsibilities as a volunteer for the 2015 Summer Universiade in the city.
