Hasan Arat with Istanbul 2020 poster outside IOC in LausanneFebruary 17 - Hasan Arat, the leader of Istanbul's bid for the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, has been confirmed to attend the World Sports Congress 2013 in London later this month where he will appear in a question and answer session on the Turkish's cities push to stage the Games.


The Congress, which is due to take place at the Churchill Hyatt Regency London on February 26 and 27, will see Arat give an exclusive insight into Istanbul's bid with the vice-president of the National Olympic Committee of Turkey (NOCT) to take questions from delegates about how his team plan to maintain a strong bid case to the end.

The Congress will be one last major public outings for Arat, a former top-level basketball player who is now a successful property developer, before the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Evaluation Commissions, headed by Britain's Sir Craig Reedie, visit Istanbul for their key inspection of the city from March 24 until 27.

Istanbul are bidding against Madrid and Tokyo for the right to stage the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics with the IOC set to elect the host city at their Session in Buenos Aires on September 7 this year.

As well as the addition of Arat, AS Roma chief executive Mark Pannes has been named as the chairman of the World Sports Congress 2013 while he will showcase the plans for the development of a new stadium for the Serie A giants at the gathering in London.

Other key figures in attendance will be the London 2012 head of venue development Paul May and Wembley Stadium managing director Roger Maslin.
