gwangjuFebruary 9 - The Gwangju 2015 university ambassadors, known as "uni-friends", have gathered to discuss opportunities for promotion and ways of attracting worldwide publicity for the Universiade.

A total of 70 "uni-friends", who were selected from across South Korea, met at the Muju resort in the Honam region of the country, which hosted the 1997 Winter Universiade, to review their previous activities and discuss future opportunities to promote the Gwangju Summer Universiade in 2015.

The group of ambassadors then performed promotional activities throughout the ski resort and broadcast the events live on Facebook and Twitter.

The first "uni-friends" were recruited back in 2011, and have since grown to a 500-strong group of ambassadors, which is expected to grow as the Universiade draws nearer.

The "uni-friends" have already taken part in the Kazan 2013 Universiade Torch Telay and have also promoted the Universiade at K-League football club Gwangju, ushering fans to their seats, cheering on the team and running a clean-up operation after the match.
