The band's song, Design for Life (Stealth Sonic), was used by London 2012 Paralympic sponsor Sainsbury's in their advertisement during the Games, which also featured former England captain David Beckham.

The band, who have had eight Top 10 albums, 15 Top 10 singles and have reached number one three times, has now decided to donate some of the proceeds to the BPA. 

"It is such a generous offer from the Manic Street Preachers to donate some of the funds from their song featured in Sainsbury's Paralympic advert to the BPA and we are genuinely touched by it", said Tim Hollingsworth, chief executive of the BPA.


"When we have a popular music band such as the Manic Street Preachers supporting the team like this, we know the team's success has impacted on people we have never reached before.

"I'd like to thank the band sincerely for their involvement with ParalympicsGB, both in allowing their music to be used in a supportive advert and in this donation.

"As an organisation we rely heavily on fundraising and charitable donations, and as with other monies we receive this will go directly towards supporting the British team at the next winter and summer Paralympic Games."
