Ivan Parejo 210103January 26 - Ivan Parejo, Spain's current aerobic gymnastic individual world champion, has been awarded the Medal of Recognition by the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) after claiming his second world title in June last year in Sofia.

The 26-year-old (pictured top), who won his first world title in 2008 in Ulm, Germany, is a key player in the Spanish gymnastics team – a nation that ranks high among the discipline's top five.

Last year's World Championships saw Parejo claim the title in 22.200 points, with the highest score for artistry in the individual men's final, 9.100.

With Parejo's win, Spain secured a double victory in Bulgaria as Sara Moreno topped the podium in the women's individual event, as well as claiming silver in the mixed pair alongside Vicente Lli Lloris.

Barcelona-based Parejo will be aiming for gold at the 2013 World Games in Cali, Colombia, in July, where he is likely to be Spain's sole representative.
