The show will much broader approach than the series aired during the Paralympics, which focussed exclusively on the Games.

Set to inherit an audience from 8 Out of 10 Cats, hosted by controversial British comedian Jimmy Carr, Last Leg will take a topical approach to events from the last seven days.

"It is ground breaking that a Paralympics show has made it to 9.30pm on a Friday night," said Syeda Irtizaali, Channel 4's entertainment commissioner, told Broadcast magazine.

"Disability is front and centre of the show, in that two disabled presenters are presenting a prime time show."

Australian comic Hills, who was born without a right foot and wears a prosthesis, will again be joined by Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker, along with a different guest each episode.


The programme will also continue with the "Is It Ok?" strand and look at the unlikely heroes of the week.

"It will be even more irreverent and more comedic and we can look at more subjects," said Irtizaali.

"We want it feel like it is fast and funny with open and frank exchanges."

During the Paralympics, The Last Leg, was hailed as one of the successes of Channel 4's coverage of the Games and resulted in Hills signing a one-year deal with the broadcaster.
