The 26-year-old (pictured top), who took the Olympics silver after losing to American Kayla Harrison in the -78 kg event, will compete in the same weight category at the national event, alongside Wales' Abu Dhabi Grand Prix silver medallist Natalie Powell and Commonwealth Games champion Caroline Kinnane.

"I'm really looking forward to returning after my time out through injury and it'll be great to return in front of a home crowd," said Gibbons, who has been training at JudoScotland's Edinburgh base.

Meanwhile, London 2012 Paralympic silver medallist Sam Ingram, who has already made clear his plans to compete at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, will take on the country's leading fully sighted judoka at the tournament.

"I'm really looking forward to fighting in the British Championships once again," Ingram explained.

"I always enjoy the challenge of fighting fully sighted judoka and I can't wait to get back on the mat in front of a home crowd."

Former European under-23 champion and London 2012 Olympian Ashley McKenzie will also compete at the event in the -60kg category, as well as 2011 European bronze medallist Colin Oates, who will fight in the -66kg category.

Fellow London 2012 athletes Danny Williams and Chris Sherrington also take to the mat in Sheffield in the -73kg and +100kg categories respectively.

Completing the field is two-time Olympian and 2011 European bronze medallist Sophie Cox, who is set to battle in the -57kg category, and Gemma Howell – the winner of three World Cups last year – will fight in the -63kg category.
