The competition, which offered readers the opportunity to trade their favourite pin collecting story for the chance to win up to £800 ($1,300/€1,000) worth of limited edition official London 2012/Honav pins, received over 130 entries from across the world.

The exceptional standard of entries has left the independent judge with the unenviable task of sorting through so many impressive stories and whittling it down to just three.

Sarah Bowron, managing director of insidethegames.biz expressed how excited she was by the unprecedented success of the competition.

"The competition has been so popular globally, with many of the entries submitted from across the Atlantic and this is just an example of pin tradings growing popularity," she said. 

"Olympic pin collecting is such an important part of the Olympic Movement, and the stories that people have sent to us just show how meaningful it really is.

"It has been a great success working with Honav, and for their second successive Summer Games they have proved to be a worthy Olympic pin badge supplier."

One lucky candidate will be adding British Birds, British Flowers, Olympic and Paralympic Pictograms, Teapots, West End Theatre, British Countryside, Wenlock and Mandeville set, as well as our very own limited edition insidethegames full set puzzle pin to their collection.

The competition celebrated the partnership between insidethegames and Honav UK – the official exclusive licensee in the lapel pin category for London 2012 and ran for the duration of the London 2012 Games.

Honav have recently signed a contract to provide pin badges for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
