The 30-year-old double world indoor champion at 60-metre hurdles has thus set herself on track for the Sochi Olympics less than a month after taking up the winter sport for the first time.

According to USA Today Sports she has been named to the team as a push athlete whose responsibility will be to get the sled off to a flying start.

Jones had competed with 16 other potential "pushers" during the summer Push Championship, in which she finished seventh, and team races, which finished yesterday.

She had finished second in a team race on October 20.

Jones was reportedly recruited by Todd Hays, the women's bobsled coach and a Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic silver medallist.
