NottwilSeptember 23 - Nottwil in Switzerland has been chosen to host the 2015 World Para-Cycling Road Championships, the International Cycling Union (UCI) has announced.

Ponferrada in Spain had originally been lined up to host the event but they are struggling to raise raise the €5 million (£4 million/$6.5 million) necessary to underwrite the 2014 World Road Cycling Championships and have been threatened with having them taken away.

The UCI have now decided to look elsewhere for the following year's Para-Cycling Championships.

Nottwil, which is close to Lucerne, has stepped in.

At last year's Championships in Copenhagen British riders won 10 medals, including two golds, both won by Sarah Storey, who defended her world titles in the C5 time trial and road race.
