The plan was unveiled by BPA chief executive Tim Hollingsworth who said his organisation is looking to unearth new talent for future Games and inspire more non-disabled people to watch Paralympic sport (pictured top).

"We hope these Games inspire a real change and momentum in the Paralympic Movement," he said.

"The BPA needs to capture and build on this inspiration because this is also about inspiring non-disabled people to view disabled sport and disabled people differently."

Details of the festival are yet to be announced but Hollingsworth said he expects it to involve community disabled sports sessions in multi-sport venues in all four British Home Countries.

He hopes that it will help build on the success of London 2012, where Britain won a total of 120 medals, including 34 gold.

"We want to make sure we bring home the impact of the Games in the best way," said Hollingsworth.

"We aim to use our brand to bring people together when it can have the most impact.

"This is a very important moment for the BPA.

"From the moment in 1948 when Ludwig Guttmann inspired the Paralympic Movement at Stoke Mandeville, so many people have been part of the journey that's brought us here."
