The competition, a test event for London 2012 that runs from May 3 to 6, will offer an opportunity for players to get used to the temporary venue in the Olympic Park.

Dutchwoman Vergeer (pictuerd top) has been unbeaten since January 2003, a phenomenal record, winning 39 Grand Slam titles in that time.

Norfolk, from Britain, claimed gold at both Athens 2004 and 2008 in the quad event and he will be joined by Dutchman Robin Ammerlaan, the men's singles gold-medal winner from Athens 2004.

Gordon Reid will also be a strong contender for Britain in the men's singles while another British hopeful for a medal will be 19-year-old rising star Jordanne Whiley.


Andrew Lapthorne (pictured above, on right with Norfolk) will line up alongside Norfolk in the quad doubles as they look to build on the title they won at the Australian Open in January.

The competition lasts for four days and 3,000 tickets have been sold to the public to date.

With a number of other test events, including Olympic hockey and athletics, taking place concurrently with wheelchair tennis, organisers hope it will be sufficient to draw in supporters visiting the Olympic Park.

The wheelchair tennis tournament at London 2012 runs from September 1 to 8 and although Eton Manor is being taken down afterwards four wheelchair tennis courts will remain after the Paralympics.
