The six team Dream Asia Cerebral Palsy Tournament in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, took place earlier this month, and involved the hosts, Iran, Australia, Jordan, Singapore and South Korea.

The Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association (CPISRA) seven-a-side head of technical control Stuart Sharp has commended AFC for the event.

"As one of the attending representatives from CPISRA at the competition I would like to thank the Asian Football Confederation for delivering such an excellent event," Sharp said.

"This event marked the first time that a continental football confederation has directly been involved in the delivery of a cerebral palsy football event and therefore we would like to thank the AFC for their vision and commitment to the sport.

"I know my views are shared by all countries who participated, especially the players who were unable to hide their pride and excitement each day when they stood on the field in their national colours.

"I hope that CPISRA's relationship with the AFC can continue to grow and we will be able collaborate to ensure that together we can create increased quality opportunities for those with cerebral palsy, strokes or acquired  brain injuries for many years to come."

Sharp was also the referee assessor and instructor during the tournament, which was comfortably won by Iran after they were victorious in all five of their matches.

CPISRA President Koos Engelbrecht also wrote to the AFC after the conclusion of the competition to thank organisers and said that his organisation is "looking forward to continued cooperation with the Asian Football Confederation".
