Leading the selections is Paul Gauthier (pictured), competing in his fifth Paralympics in the BC3 class, and hoping to win back the gold medal he claimed at Athens 2004.

Gauthier is joined by Adam Dukovich (BC2), who won gold alongside him at last year's Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

BC4 competitor Marco Dispaltro, who took silver in Guadalajara and was a runner up at last year's World Cup, will be another strong contender to pick up a medal.

Others heading to London include Josh Vander Vies and Dave Richer in the BC2, who both claimed bronze at the Parapans.

"I am very proud to be a member of this team,'' said Vander Vies.

''This team worked incredibly hard to qualify for London 2012 as a country against the top athletes in the world for the last four years.

"With enough hard work in the coming weeks and months, this team has a real chance to be on the podium in London."

They are joined by Bruno Gameau in the BC3 of Montreal, Vancouver's Monica Martino BC3, Tammy McCleod BC2 from London and Brock Richardson BC1 from Brampton.

"This group is composed of athletes with leadership and experience along with a couple of 'Paralympic newbies' bringing energy to the team,'' said Mario Delisle of Montreal, the head coach of the team.

''The final selection of this team was difficult and the coaching staff is pleased to work with these athletes.

"At the end we definitely believe we have what we need to create the synergy to be at our best in London."
