south africa_v_mexico_wheelchair_basketball_29-02-12February 29 - With just six months to go until the start of the London 2012 Paralympic Games, the final spot for the women's wheelchair basketball pool will be determined this week when Mexico hosts South Africa in a best of three-game series.

The series will take place in Guadalajara, Mexico, with the first game set to take place tomorrow.

The second match will take place the day after on Friday (March 2) with the final, and potentially decisive match, to be played on Saturday (March 3).

Whichever team qualifies will complete the ten-team women's wheelchair basketball line up for the London 2012 Paralympics.

The nine other women's teams that have already qualified for London 2012 are Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, France, Australia, China, USA, Canada and Brazil.

The squads have already been split into two groups for the competition following the official draw at the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury at the beginning of the year.

Group A features Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Brazil and hosts Britain.

Meanwhile, Group B has China, USA, Germany and France, with the winner of the Mexico/South Africa series to join them.

In the men's London 2012 wheelchair basketball competition, all 12 teams have now been confirmed.

Group A will consist of Spain, Italy, USA, Turkey, Australia, South Africa, with Group B to feature Germany, Canada, Colombia, Poland, Japan and host Britain.

Wheelchair basketball is one of the most popular sports at the Paralympic Games and it has featured on the Paralympic sports programme ever since the first Games in Rome back in 1960.

At London 2012, the wheelchair basketball competition will take place at two venues.

The preliminary games will be split between the Basketball Arena, a new purpose-built venue in the Olympic Park in Stratford, and North Greenwich Arena just across the Thames.

All quarterfinals, semi-finals and medal games will take place at North Greenwich Arena.
