Santin tested positive for Tamoxifen during the Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico last November.

The IPC Anti-Doping Code prohibits the substance under the Hormone Antagonists and Modulators category.

Santin claimed to have used Tamoxifen for health reasons, and insisted that he did not believe it would have improved his performance.

He will now be suspended for two years dating back to December 8 2011, when he was notified of his anti-doping violation.

Santin also has to pay a fine of €1,500 (£1,300/$2,000).

The IPC has warned both athletes and their support personnel of the importance of communication to ensure they do not fail to comply with anti-doping rules.
